Basic Eligibility Requirements for US Citizenship
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must have a Green Card for 5 years (or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen)
- Must meet continuous residence requirements
- Must meet physical presence requirements
- Must have lived in the state for at least 3 months
- Must demonstrate good moral character
- Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English (unless eligible for an exemption)
- Must pass the U.S. civics test
- Must be willing to take the Oath of Allegiance
- Special categories may apply (military, asylum/refugee, etc.)
