Join us for Puerto Rico Discovery Day! This terrific and patriotic event will begin with a flag raising ceremony at City Hall, 260 High Street, and end with a lunch and cultural presentation from the amazing Danza Fiesta Baile y Teatro Puertorriqueño and Batey Borincano. It's all happening at Robert N. Wilentz School on 51 First Street, very close to PRAHD's offices. Plus, Celines Perez will be honored with the "Outstanding Scholar of the Year" award form the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Don't miss it!
PRAHD is collaborating with the New Jersey Carpenters Network to provide interested applicants with a wonderful opportunity to receive FREE training in carpentry. This pre-apprenticeship program is offered in the evening hours, allowing participants the ability to maintain their daytime work schedule.
The pre-apprenticeship program provides participants with the fundamental skills of the carpentry trade. Additionally, it will help prepare participants for the entrance requirements for the full apprenticeship program for union apprentice carpenters. This program is an invaluable part of our community's efforts to break the cycle of poverty by providing neighbors and friends the skills they need to earn gainful employment and provide for themselves and their families
The PRAHD Carpenters Program has been featured on Fios1 News New Jersey and NJBIZ. If you or anyone you know is interested in the Carpenter's Pre-Apprenticeship Program, please contact PRAHD today!
The Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, Inc. (PRAHD) has been awarded a $50,000 grant to support the agency’s Resources for Independent Living (REFIL) Program – a home healthcare service primarily for seniors, developmentally disabled individuals and their caregivers.
This award marks the second consecutive year of funding from the NJ Office of Faith Based Initiatives (NJOFBI) Social Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development (SE2D I) Project. SE2D I funding supports community based organizations that implement a revenue generating model whose purpose is to address social issues in creative and innovative ways. The recent investment to the REFIL program highlights PRAHD’s immense success in its dual approach of addressing social issues faced by not only the client through Certified Home Health Aides, but also issues faced by the caregiver who is provided supportive services offered by PRAHD.
